FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The idea of starting therapy can feel overwhelming. Find answers to some of the most commonly-asked questions. If you have more questions, please reach out.

What if I need to reschedule my appointment?

You can log onto your Jane account and reschedule your session. We ask that you provide us with 24 hours notice before cancelling or rescheduling. The time that is booked with your therapist is reserved for you, and our therapists prepare for your sessions. In light of that, we charge the full fee for your sessions if we do not receive 24 hours notice of your cancellation.

What if I change my mind about therapy?

It is extremely common to be afraid of attending your first session. You are trying something new and asking yourself to be vulnerable. This is tough stuff. We encourage you to attend your session, even if it feels uncomfortable. Our therapists are trained to help you through this discomfort. We will listen and be patient and as you learn how therapy can help you. If you are concerned about your therapy after you get started, talk to your therapist. We want to make sure your therapy works for you and we need to know what’s not working so that we can make adjustments and come at things from a different angle.

What if I can't afford therapy?

If your financial circumstances change, please let us know. It is important to us that you are supported. We will work with you to ensure your needs are met, and if necessary, we will help you secure more affordable therapy options. We ask that you confirm the benefits available to you and keep us informed of your balance so that we can adjust the frequency or format of sessions if that would be helpful.

Can I contact you between sessions?

If you are in crisis, please contact your local emergency service. Sometimes, you may need to speak to your therapist in between sessions. Please reach out via email. We are happy to touch base, but any contacts above 10 minutes in duration may be subject to session fees.

Is therapy covered by Extended Health Benefits?

Most extended health benefits include coverage for therapy. Please check with your provided to confirm whether the coverage is for Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychotherapists or both. This distinction refers to the therapist’s educational background. Both credentials are equally qualified. Also confirm the dollar amount of coverage per year to help us work with you to budget for your sessions.

Are you covered under the Non-Insured Health Benefits Program?

Yes! Most of our therapists meet the criteria to support Indigenous clients with culturally sensitive approaches. We are responsible for submitting claims for all Indigenous clients who qualify for therapy under this program.
